The Wayne State University School of Medicine's Office of Assessment assists in the development and maintenance of the medical school's high-quality programs and services. The assessment of student learning outcomes proves to be one of the best ways of determining if the school is fulfilling its mission and goals. The office provides students with assessments of specific learning objectives associated with core curriculum competencies and the cognitive domains (knowledge, skill, attitude/behavior) evaluated for each objective. The administrators, faculty, and staff utilize the data gathered to both evaluate and improve academic and non-academic offerings. In addition, the data helps evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum.
